Open Motorcycle Helmet
is it safe for a 14 year old to ride a pocket bike?
i am wondering whether or not to let my 14 year old son buy a pocket bike, he wants to buy the cagllari pocket bike (which isnt very fast only goes to about 33 mph) and a motorcycle helmet. we live in cali so theres a lot of open space. should i let him?
It is not street legal, it is not made for the dirt. Basically there is no place to legally and safely ride such a thing.
Their ad says it will do up to 47 mph, but let's take your 33 mph as what the bike is capable of. Get in your car, get it going at 33 mph. Throw your son out of the car. Is that safe?
Don't want to toss the kid out, try a watermelon, make sure it hits a stationary object. Imagine the pieces are your kid.
Let's say you kid is smart enough to not crash into something. There he is, unlicensed, ripping down the streets at 30 mph, low, small, unseen . . . a car runs over him because he is unseen and not expected to be in the road.
=============
In case you are still wondering, no, it is not safe. Which doesn't mean you shouldn't get your son one. Just take out a good life insurance policy first.
