How strict is motorcycle noise enforcement in Portland, OR and surrounding communities?
I am moving from Fargo, North Dakota where I received a $20 "fix it" ticket for riding my motorcycle too loudly near residential areas. I know that Oregon police are strict about riders wearing helmets, but I want to know if loud pipes will cause problems.
I ride a 2003 Yamaha XV1700 (Warrior) with Shogun II exhaust, tuned with a power commander (Ripsaw III Program).
I'd like to know if loud pipes/custom exhaust is common, if riders with loud pipes get tickets, and how much tickets cost.
It's a pretty good bet that if you got a ticket in Fargo N Dakota, that the folks in Portland are not likely to be too happy either.
You could try ridding for awhile & see what happens. But if you will be ridding alot in residential areas, you will likely make yourself unpopular quickly.
Don't know what a fine is likely to be, but I have never gotten a ticket for loud pipes, Honda Rebel - Beaverton Or.
Oregon is ecotopia. Lots of 'tree huggers'. They won't like noise pollution any better than pollution pollution. That's my guess anyway.
