my eyes are red swollen and itchy?
i was riding a four wheeler without any glasses or a helmet and now my eyes are very red and itchy. the bottom lid is swollen how do i get them to stop will i go blind
I get really bad hay fever and this is exactly what happens to me. Don't worry, you won't go blind, but your eyes will look weird and puffy for a couple of days.
I am now prescribed special eye drops by my doctor, but I also find the following technique is very soothing for the eyes:
Get a bowl of cold water, and dip a flannel or small towel in it. Wring the towel a little, so that it is not totally dripping wet. Then lie down, and put the wet flannel across your eyes. (Its even better if you can get hold of one of those gel-filled eyes masks that you keep in the fridge). Keep there, re-dipping the towel when it stops being cool, until you feel the itching has stopped, and your eyes feel soothed.
In order to prevent this happening again, I suggest that you wear sunglasses (wrap-around type are the best), and you take allergy medication, especially when you are going to be outside. Also, although it is very tempting to rub them, DON'T as it only makes the itching worse, and makes your eyes go even more red and puffy.
