How to pronounce the German word "Wachter", where there are double points "a".

I I am referring to the German word for "Guardian" I just have the word spelled phonetically for me. :)

You probably know that one German "E" is a short and long pronunciation depending on whether it is followed My one (or "H") or a double consonant. Example: Fett (short) Fehler (long) 'A' with two dots (umlaut) or "a" has the same pronunciation as German "E" and the same rule. So why not just use "E"? F this is related to the ability to see that many of the "A" were rejected by the regular A. Example: Ich have (got), ICH hätte (I) This shows that they are linked. So imagine how would you decide "Wechter" in German language, and you will have it. (There may be a subtle difference bewteen "E" and "A" native German speakers, and for foreign speakers like us the difference is unnoticeable)
